Butterfly Garden

When the Butterfly Garden was first being created, it seemed that it would be a therapeutic space for children. As the process occurred, it became evident that it was a space for adults to explore transitions and metamorphic change in their lives.

The Children's Garden has a Sensory Garden that also attracts pollinators and is a space where children and butterflies twirl and spin. This allows the Butterfly Garden to be reserved for processing with adults including couples or mature adolescents.

The Butterfly Garden is a place for deep contemplation.

Topics of therapy that naturally are processed in this space are deep, intimate, and raw:

  • Grief

  • Depression

  • Intimacy

  • Passion

  • Parenting

  • Addiction

  • Loss of passion

  • Changes of life

  • Traumatic loss

  • Hurtful relationships

Butterflies represent change....

Metamorphosis

The butterfly across cultures and spiritual traditions is often seen as a symbol of hope and positive changes.

Quotes across cultural and spiritual traditions are included on this page. Each may inspire individuals as they seek contemplation, resolution or active processing of life's transitions.

We appreciate cultural diversity and our staff are supportive different view points.

We honor the healing capacity within all people.

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly. Richard Boch

"We are being transformed, metamorphosed, into His same image from radiance of Glory to another."

Today is your day to dance lightly with life,
sing wild songs of adventure,
invite rainbows and butterflies out to play,
soar your spirit, and unfurl your joy.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

There are two great things you can give your children: One is roots and the other is wings.

Death is the opening of a more subtle life, in the flower, it sets free the perfume; in the chrysalis, the butterfly; in man, the soul.

Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly it's cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh and to be able to grow.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

A butterfly is a magical symbol of great transformation to come. It is a reminder that our current reality is to be experienced so that we can grow to change for the better. We are to accept and embrace these changes while keeping your faith in the end results.

A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam...and for a brief moment it's glory and beauty belong to our world...but then it flies once again, and although we wish it could have stayed, we are so thankful to have seen it at all.

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Albert Einstein

Happiness is a butterfly which when pursued is always beyond our grasp but if you will sit down quietly may alight upon you.

Pay attention to rainbows, and snowflakes,
butterflies and the songs of birds,
the crash of storm-driven waves
and the mirror-surface of a quiet pond.
Let the depths of nature become a part of your innermost being.

If a butterfly is caught and you whisper your wishes to her, she will carry your wishes to the Great Spirit.
